Cabanatuan City, NUEVA ECIJA | Several areas in Luzon remained submerged in floodwaters on July 25, Thursday, after torrential rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon, locally known as Habagat, and Tropical Cyclone Carina caused massive flooding across the region. In a swift response to the devastating impact of the floods, the Rotary Club of Cabanatuan West, in cooperation with its long-time service ally, Asia Brewery Incorporated, donated 550 boxes of bottled water on July 29, 2024.
The joint effort was organized to provide immediate relief to thousands of residents in Luzon, including Metro Manila, Bulacan, and nearby cities, who have been displaced or left without access to clean drinking water due to the persistent floods. Rtn. Marlo Kinney, a key figure in brokering the significant donation from Asia Brewery Inc., emphasized the critical role that clean water plays in disaster-stricken areas.
“This will help a lot of people who are affected by the typhoon,” stated Rtn. Kinney, acknowledging the vital importance of basic necessities in the aftermath of natural disasters.
The donation is part of a broader humanitarian effort led by Rotary District 3770, which has been actively working to ensure that essential resources reach the affected areas swiftly. With roads submerged and many communities cut off due to rising floodwaters, the availability of clean bottled water has become a pressing need.
Volunteers from both the Rotary Clubs and local community organizations have been mobilized to distribute the donated water supplies, focusing on the hardest-hit areas where access to clean water is severely limited.
The partnership between the Rotary Club of Cabanatuan West and Asia Brewery Inc. exemplifies the power of collaboration between civic organizations and the business sector in times of crisis. This long-standing alliance has consistently worked towards addressing community needs, particularly in disaster preparedness and response.
