BONGABON, Nueva Ecija β The Rotary Club of Cabanatuan West recently concluded its “Yapak Para sa Bata” program on Sunday, June 22, at Barangay Santor Gymnasium, providing much-needed footwear and nutritional support to local children. The event commenced at 9 AM and was marked by strong community involvement.
The initiative, organized in coordination with the Interact-Rotaract Club of Cabanatuan West together with Barangay Captain Denden Sioson and Kagawad Arlene Cavanga, Chairwoman of the Committee on Children’s and Family Welfare, also received valuable assistance from Barangay Health Workers led by Melanie Gregorio and Beth Carpio, along with Peacekeeper Chief Omia Tutoy.
During the event, the Rotary Club distributed essential footwear to the children, provided supplemental feeding, and supplemented their nutrition with Rice-Mongo Crunchies, a nutritious deep-fried snack made from a blend of rice and mongo flour, which was from the DOST Food and Nutrition Research Institute. These snacks are designed to provide essential nutrients while being appealing to children.
“Yapak Para sa Bata”, which started in February 2021 at Barangay Poblacion West, Municipality of Pantabangan, has steadily expanded its reach through initial donations from Tykes Trading Inc. and continued support from various groups and Local Government Units (LGUs). To date, the program has impacted over 5,000 children in more than 20 barangays.
The event at Barangay Santor Gymnasium reflects the ongoing commitment of the Rotary Club of Cabanatuan West to enhancing the well-being of children in the community. By providing both practical and nutritional support, the “Yapak Para sa Bata” program aims to address immediate needs and contribute to long-term health and welfare.
